Is sunflower oil good for the skin?

The short answer is yes, absolutely! Sunflowers are native to the southwest and have been used for medicinal and holistic purposes for thousands of years. Not only are sunflowers pretty to look at, but they provide a nutrient rich, edible oil that is very beneficial for the skin.

Sunflower oil is rich in linoleic acid and quickly absorbs into the skin. Dermatology Times reported that, "...these essential fatty acids can help maintain the skin barrier and decrease transepidermal water loss." Meaning that sunflower seed oil is great at keeping moisture in the skin.

Retaining moisture is essential for skin health. Think of it this way - a rose petal doesn't wrinkle or have creases until it dries out and loses moisture. The same adage can be applied to your skin. Keep it moist, keep it supple, keep it young.

Over time vaginal skin can become dry and tear easily, especially after menopause. Choosing a personal moisturizer that maintains the skin barrier (like Chiavare) is important for your daily comfort and well-being.

There are several studies that link sunflower seed oil with anti-inflammatory properties. We know inflammation causes disease and pain. So any time you can introduce anti-inflammatory ingredients to your body, do it.

Sunflower seed oil is also considered to potentially boost healing properties in your skin. It acts as a protective barrier oil and antioxidant, retaining moisture and providing the skin with vitamin E.

We chose sunflower seed oil as one of the six ingredients (grapeseed oil, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil,  for Chiavare because of the wonderful skin benefits this oil can provide to the skin.

Sexual health and vaginal care is extremely important. Do your research and know what is in the lube or personal moisturizer that you're using.
